My approach to therapy:
I am passionate about my work with adult individuals and couples in a beautiful private-practice office in Irvine, California. It's an incredible honor to witness my clients' growth and work collaboratively towards their self-discovery. Working from an affirming model, I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental, and comfortable space for my clients to explore that which feels most authentic for them. My role is not one of gatekeeper nor advice-giver. My goal is to walk this path alongside you, collaborating on discovering what way of being in the world works best for you. My education and training in psychotherapy: Apart from my Master's in Psychology with honors from Phillips Graduate Institute, an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, I am certified in Grief and Bereavement Counseling, and am a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. I also have advanced training in:
The long and short of it: Though education and experience play a role, research shows that what really matters most in successful therapy is the fit of the relationship between the client and the therapist. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:
What's the process for starting counseling? Making the decision to seek support is a big one. I want to make the process as easy as possible for you. You can call me at 949-648-7991. If I'm in session, leave your name, number, and some good times to reach you. I will call you back (usually within 24 hours, if not sooner) for your 15-minute no-cost phone consultation. You'll be able to ask questions and briefly discuss what it is you'd like to address in therapy. If we feel that we might work well together, we will schedule your first appointment. Some people are more comfortable emailing or texting. That's fine, too. My email is [email protected]. What is your fee? My fee is $215 for a 50-minute session. You may pay by check, cash, credit card, or HSA/FSA (flexible spending account) card. How often will we meet? Your session will be reserved for you at the same time every week, unless otherwise arranged. Daytime, weekday appointments are available in-person or on video. Do you take insurance? I do not take insurance, but can provide you with a superbill/receipt to submit to your insurance company. As insurance companies differ in their policies, please verify your plan's mental health benefits for out-of-network mental health providers. Please note that some clients choose to pay privately as insurance providers require a mental health diagnosis for your records and may limit your number of sessions. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate. What if I have to miss an appointment? Please contact me in advance should you find yourself unable to attend your session. If the session is not canceled with at least 24 hours notice, you will be responsible for the full session fee. Are there any forms to fill out? Yes, there are forms for new clients to fill out. I will send you a link to access the client portal so that you may complete the forms online. Do you exclusively work with transgender clients? While working with gender expansive clients is an important part of my practice, I welcome clients of varied identities. To learn more, visit YourOCTherapist.com. |
